Collaboration workshop: how a disjointed team came together to achieve its goals

Andrew, a Headteacher, approached me with concerns about the cohesiveness and performance of his external relations team. They appeared to be operating as silos and he wasn’t convinced that they were achieving as much as they could be.

My engagement and collaboration workshop provided a day in school with the entire external relations team. We explored shared goals, individual strengths and preferences. The team was then able to agree:

  • how they wanted to work together
  • what they expected from one another
  • specific areas where working together would achieve better results.

By the end of the workshop, several processes had been scoped to improve working practice and flow of information. The team also pinpointed ways to help each other and achieve greater efficiencies and impact.

“We feel that we work more openly as a team and understand each other's jobs and personalities better which ultimately has created a better office environment. We are all on the same page and feel able to contribute. Overall, since we know more about each other’s roles, stress triggers, and responsibilities at work and at home, we are able to work more openly and effectively."
