Strategy workshop for Trustees: bringing powerful personalities together for a shared aim

Simon, Chair of a charity, was struggling with a fragmented Board of Trustees. Some Trustees had strong opinions and were entrenched in their view. There was a lack of alignment and a tendency for the board to be overly involved in the operation of the charity’s work.

Understanding the individual personalities and dynamics enabled me to develop a workshop which took place over the course of a day at the charity’s HQ.

Despite the lively debate that took place, by the end of the workshop there was a palpable reduction in tension in the room and a demonstrable commitment to move forward as a board.

“Jo worked hard to understand the context ahead of the session and the personalities in the room so that we could get the most out of our time. She was a calm and confident presence whose own emotional intelligence seemed to pervade the group, bringing out the best. We left feeling excited about the challenges ahead and ready to face them head-on.”
