How I helped a Director of Development increase donor engagement

James, a Director of Development, was not only responsible for raising significant funds for bursaries and a capital campaign, but was also a member of the senior leadership team. With a small development team and additional school responsibilities, James needed to find a way to manage expectations, engage more prospects and prioritise his time.

The coaching has helped clarify my thinking and evaluate what I was doing. It has been invaluable to have the opportunity to unpack ideas and have them tested. Jo has been excellent in listening and responding with some pertinent observations. She doesn’t tell you what to do, but offers suggestions, posed as questions, which make you dig deep to think through the rationale for decisions. After the coaching, I felt that much of what we are already doing has been affirmed, but I also feel a greater confidence in tackling more sensitive and challenging aspects of fundraising and donor engagement.”
